There are books all over the place. The flat is flooded by books coming in from all corners of the world. It seemed hopeless to him trying to give them a home on the shelves. So they were building towers on the floor,
climbing up the walls like creepers. Piles of books beneath the bed. He habitually grabs one as soon as he opens his eyes in the morning. The words he starts reading are often the first words he is listening to on that particular day. A voice,
gently speaking in his head,
early in the morning. He never leaves the house without a book. Waiting at the barber,
waiting at the doctor,
riding on the bus,
he is taking out his books and slipping away into reading. Being in Paris recently,
he realised that there were still lots of readers on the métro,
sitting absorbed in their books. He looked down on them with great affection and sympathy. They were readers like him,
yes they were. And for a second that gave him a warm and gentle feeling. He felt at home among his fellow readers. Are you one of the persons,
